  1.                   SOME TIPS ON GETTING STARTED WITH WORDMASTER

  5.                        -- HARD DRIVE INSTALLATION --

  7.        Create a directory on your hard disk to hold the WordMaster files,
  8.        e.g., C:\WM.  Use the command MD WM.  Put the WordMaster disk in
  9.        drive A and switch to that drive.  Copy the files with the command
  10.        COPY *.* C:\WM.
  11.  
  12.        To be able to load WordMaster from anywhere on your hard disk be
  13.        sure to include the WordMaster directory in your PATH in your
  14.        AUTOEXEC.BAT.  And remember to set the Home Directory so WordMaster
  15.        can find its own files from any other directory.  Do this with the
  16.        command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-S> or <F1, O, P, H>.  And make it permanent
  17.        with the command <Ctrl-S><Ctrl-D> or <F1, O, S>.

  21.                           -- FLOPPY DRIVE USE --
  22.  
  23.        Most computers without a hard drive have two floppy disk drives.
  24.        You will probably want to use the program disk in drive A and keep
  25.        data files in drive B.  To do this, set the Home Directory as
  26.        described above under Hard Disk Installation, but set it for A.
  27.        Then use <Shift-F1> to change to the B drive.  (You may also have to
  28.        enter B the first time you open a file.)

  30.        If you put a PATH statement like PATH=a:\;b:\; in an AUTOEXEC.BAT on
  31.        your boot disk you should be able to put the WordMaster disk in
  32.        drive A, the data disk in drive B and load WordMaster from drive B
  33.        without all the above instructions.

  39.        To load WordMaster type WM and <Enter>.

  41.        To read the WordMaster documentation file, type WM WM.DOC and
  42.        <Enter>.

  46.                      -- PRINTING THE DOCUMENTATION --

  48.        To print out the documentation file (which is designed to be printed
  49.        using WordMaster) load the file as above and use <Shift-F9> to bring
  50.        up the print menu.

  52.        It is important that the right Printer Definition File (the .PDF
  53.        files) is loaded before printing anything or the various fonts will
  54.        not be printed.  By default, WordMaster uses EPSMX80.PDF which is
  55.        fine for most printers that are Epson compatible.  If your printer
  56.        will not work properly with this, then try one of the other .PDF
  57.        files contained in the self-extracting file PDF-SFX.COM; extract by
  58.        typing PDF-SFX <Enter> on the command line while in the directory
  59.        containing the WordMaster files.  If none of these work
  60.        satisfactorily with your printer, you can create your own .PDF file
  61.        as outlined in the documentation.

  64.        NOTE:  Users of earlier versions of WordMaster will notice that the
  65.        default function key assignments have been radically changed after
  66.        careful evaluation of user suggestions.
